Some days, the world just works. You get to spend a day doing what you love, with people you like, hearing inspiring stories, and generally just being light.
Friday was just such a day for me.
Despite a heavy and important deadline, huge pressures and anxious coworkers, Friday was a day to remember that I’m very fortunate to work in a field that provides tangible benefits to people at the end of the day. I am a step removed from that end so sometimes it can be easy to forget that the results are REAL and the GOOD EXISTS, especially when I’m beating back vultures with a stick and trying to squeeze the proverbial stone ever tighter for a few more drops of blood (as we all are these days).
Friday I got reminded that families are changed, peoples lives are improved, by the company I work for, and for that I am grateful. In today’s economy, what a blessing it is not only to have a job but to have one that really does try to help people change their lives for good.
Even more, I’m grateful for the bright spots of light in the people I work with (now and in the past) and how much they bring light to my days, no matter how dark the economic news looms or how dark my own thoughts may lean. You guys ROCK.
All in all, a pretty good day and a good way to end a work week.
